Amazon is probably one of the most well known affiliate programs. As with all ads they need to relate to your blog. Information blogs are sometimes harder to convert with Amazon then blogs focused around specific products or services. For example… music, books and videos (DVD) are great. I found that if you have a blog that reviews certain topics like books and music, you have a better chance of making a conversion.

Usually, a post or reviews of a specific artist is naturally optimized. This can bring in a lot of natural traffic. If the post is topical and it is about an artist in the news, socially bookmarking the post can drive in a lot of target traffic and maybe even some links that will drive in future traffic.

You can target specific items or categories. The more targeted you can make the ads the better chance they will convert. If you have a blog about pop music, the ads though related to pop, may not pull as well as a blog specifically about Michael Jackson. Because all the ads will be related to him and not the genre in general.
