As a blogger page views mean a lot. The more page views I get the more chances I have of making some money. There are some cool ideas and tools to get visitors to dive deeper into your site. Below I have a list of my top favorites.

The first page of your blog is a lead-in to your latest blog posts. Using the “More” tab in wordpress will allow you to cut the post off at the first paragraph, baiting people into clicking to read more. It also works great on scrapper sites trying to take content off your blogs home page. They will only retrieve the snippet and not the whole post.

Images are a great way to ensure people stay and read. Images brighten up boring text. Especially if a blog post is long. A good trick is to place the image in the middle of the fold. (the fold being anything you can see without scrolling.) Most people will only see half the image and will scroll down further to see the rest of it. Encouraging them to move further down the page, where hopefully more ads or posts are.

Also, having related posts under each blog post will help visitors dive deeper into your site. So will having a “top Posts” list in one of the side columns of your blog. You can also add links inside the text of your posts referencing other posts.

A simple solution to getting more page views is to write more posts. Ok, maybe it’s not as simple as it sounds. More posts equals more pages visitors and the engines can discover.

Decrease your bounce rate. If your bounce rate on your blog is over 50% it needs improvement. Try a different template, add images to your posts, add shorter posts and test other ideas and methods. Look at other successful bloggers and see what they do. Are specific posts getting bounced or all? The more you learn about your readers via your analytics the better chances you have of lowering your bounce rate and increasing page views.

When linking out to other sites always make sure the pages open in a new window. People tend to lose track of where they are and may close out a window before going back to your page to bookmark it or to continue on into the rest of the site.

What have you done to increase your page views? Please comment below, I’d love to hear about it. :)
